Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

SproutLog ("we", "our", "the app") is a gardening and plant-care journal published by ReniusLab. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what choices you have. SproutLog is built offline-first: you can use every core feature — gardens, plants, care tasks, journal entries, photos — entirely on your device, without creating an account.

Information we collect

What's collected depends on how you use the app:

  • Account information. If you create an account (email/password or Google Sign-In), we receive your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication. You can also use the app anonymously ("Continue as Guest") without providing either.
  • Garden and plant data. Garden names, plant nicknames, planting dates, care logs, and journal notes you enter. This is stored locally on your device at all times; if you're signed in on the paid "Plus" plan, it's also synced to our cloud database (Cloud Firestore) so it's available across your devices.
  • Photos. Photos you attach to a plant or care log. Stored locally, and — for Plus subscribers — uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage for backup and cross-device sync.
  • Diagnostics. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive automatic crash and error reports, and Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate feature usage (e.g. which screens are used, not the content of your garden data). Neither is tied to your name or email.

How we use this information

  • To provide the app's core functionality (storing and displaying your gardening data).
  • To sync your data across devices if you're signed in on a Plus subscription.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
  • To understand which features are used, in aggregate, so we can prioritize improvements.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where your data lives

Local data is stored in an on-device SQLite database and never leaves your device unless you're signed in with cloud sync enabled. Cloud data (Firestore, Storage, Authentication, Crashlytics, Analytics) is hosted by Google Firebase, under Google's own security and data-processing terms.

Your choices

  • Use it fully offline. Skip account creation entirely — nothing leaves your device.
  • Turn off notifications for care reminders at any time in Settings.
  • Export your data as a JSON file from Settings → "Export my data".
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → "Delete Account" — see our Data Deletion page for details, including what to do if you no longer have access to the app.

Children's privacy

SproutLog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, for signed-in users, note it in the app.
